Chrysoskalitissa


Situated 76 kilometers far from Chania, at the southwest, Chrysoskalitissa is a small village with few permanent residents, a resort for locals and a few tourists.

The most important sightseeing is the Monastery of “Panagia Chrysoskalitissa” which is still uncertain when it has been built. The old tradition of the Monastery says that one out of the 90 steps dug in the rock and leading to the top is made out of gold.

The small bay named “Stomio” is a rocky coast which worth seeing for its natural beauty and view.

A local feast takes place on 15th of August, in honor of the Assumption of Virgin Mary.

Only a few rooms are available to rent for accommodation.

Access is possible by your own or rented vehicle.
